Updated on Feb 29, 2020 10:42 pm IST

After a green signal from the Supreme Court, CPI(M) general Secretary Sitaram Yechury left for Kashmir on Thursday morning to meet his ailing party colleague. The SC has asked him to meet Yousuf Tarigami and file an affidavit on his return to the capital. Yechury will become the first opposition leader to visit the valley since the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the state. Yechury attempted to visit Srinagar earlier as well, but he along with other opposition party leaders had been sent back from the Srinagar airport.
