Yogi’s 1st cabinet rejig: Riot accused gets promotion among 23 new ministers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath carried out his first cabinet expansion on Wednesday. 23 ministers were administered the oath of office by the UP Governor. 18 of the 23 ministers are new entrants into the Cabinet. 4 ministers of state (independent charge) were promoted to cabinet rank. One of them is Suresh Rana, an accused in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. The government is working towards withdrawing the case against him. Before the cabinet expansion, he held the portfolio of MoS (Independent Charge), Sugarcane Development, Sugar Mills and Industrial Development.
