India pays homage to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi

India on Friday paid homage to its iconic freedom fighter and Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 61st death anniversary. The day is observed as the Martyrs Day across the country. India dignitaries also paid their respect to the father of the nation. President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, along with Vice President Hamid Ansari, and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi attended a prayer session to pay tributes to the father of the nation in New Delhi.
