Maoists gun down villager in Orissa, on suspicion of being police informer

Maoists on Sunday gunned down a resident of Balipeta village in Koraput district in of Orissa. The mutilated body of Gokul Pandu, a Gram Rozgar Sevak under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) was found lying on the road near Narayanpatna. Posters and leaflets accusing him of being a corrupt man and a police informer were also found on the spot. The rebels also blocked traffic between Laxmipur Naraypatna and Narayanpatna Bandhugaon with a shutdown declared by them as a protest against Operation Green Hunt.
