Navarro’s attacks on India met with firm words, MEA rejects controversial ‘brahmins' comments

The Ministry of External Affairs hit back sharply at White House trade adviser Peter Navarro after his explosive remarks targeting India’s Russian oil imports. Navarro, defending Trump’s 50% tariff on Indian goods, accused “Brahmins” of profiteering and even branded India a “laundromat for the Kremlin” that “kills Ukrainians.” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the comments as “inaccurate” and “unacceptable.” This is the latest in Navarro’s string of inflammatory statements, as Washington ramps up pressure on New Delhi over oil, trade, and ties with Moscow and Beijing. India insists its energy policy remains independent.
