British-Sikh MP Tannamjeet Singh Dhesi raised the issue of India’s farmer protest inside the UK Parliament. “Alarming news of man killed with bullet wound to head and several injured, as farmers protest reported standoff with police. Legitimate posts and accounts of activists also taken down by X in India,” the Punjab-origin MP said on X, formerly Twitter. Dhesi, who had also taken up the issue during the previous farmer protest, was heavily criticised in India for objecting to the crackdown on Punjab radical leader Amritpal Singh last year.
