Modi's minister arrested: Narayan Rane held over 'slap Uddhav' jibe

  • Union Minister Narayan Rane was arrested by Ratnagiri police on August 24. The minister’s “slap Uddhav” remark sparked controversy following which clashes broke out in several parts of Maharashtra. Rane, a former chief minister of Maharashtra, claimed that CM Uddhav Thackeray asked his aides about year of independence midway during his speech. Rane said, “Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap”. Following his statement, Shiv Sena workers gathered outside Rane’s Juhu residence and shouted slogans.
