Pak In Precarious Position: IMF spots ₹2 Trillion breach in Sharif govt's budget estimates

Ahead of crucial talks with Pakistan government, IMF has found an over ₹2,000 billion breach in budgetary estimates for 2022-23. It might result in escalating the budget deficit and primary deficit targets of the cash-strapped nation by a massive margin. Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund officials are scheduled to kick-start parleys from Tuesday for completing the ninth review under Extended Fund Facility. Fiscal slippages and reconciliation of figures will be the major topic of discussion during these talks. The review would lead to the release of the next tranche of funds to Pakistan, pending since September.
