Reform UK leader Nigel Farage ignited a fierce debate in the House of Commons, accusing Prime Minister Keir Starmer of reducing the government’s “smash the gangs” pledge to an empty election slogan amid a record surge in Channel crossings. Farage demanded Starmer to declare a national emergency as over 10,000 migrants have arrived in the UK so far in 2025. Starmer defended his record, highlighting Labour’s new Borders Bill and expanded police powers to target people-smuggling gangs, and accused Reform UK of lacking real solutions.
