Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow had received a personal invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join a proposed “Peace Council.” Putin said the initiative mainly concerns the Middle East and Gaza, stressing any process must follow UN decisions and address Palestinian needs, including reconstruction and humanitarian aid. He suggested Russia could contribute US$1 billion from frozen assets. On Greenland, Putin said the issue does not concern Russia, citing historic U.S. purchases of Alaska and the Virgin Islands and noting Washington could afford Greenland if it chose to buy it.
