Some of the country's biggest stars and industrialists, including Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Vijay Mallya and Mukesh Ambani, bought franchises at a glitzy auction in Mumbai to determine the teams for the Twenty20 Indian Premier League, starting in April. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who bid for the Kolkata team, said that the new money-spinning cricket tournament would nurture budding talent and benefit cricket.
