Turkey showcased its growing indigenous naval capabilities during the Sea Wolf-II/2026 exercise, conducting the first simultaneous launch of eight missiles and a torpedo against decommissioned targets in the Gulf of Antalya. An Atmaca anti-ship missile launched from the corvette TCG Burgazada successfully struck a target 102 kilometres away, highlighting Ankara’s expanding self-reliance in naval warfare systems. The demonstration came amid heightened regional tensions involving Israel. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump described Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a “very good friend,” while avoiding direct criticism of Ankara despite its sharp dispute with Israel.
