US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor backed President Donald Trump’s call for mandatory voter identification in the United States, citing India’s electoral system as an example. Speaking about India’s large electorate, Gor highlighted the use of voter ID and the relatively low proportion of votes cast by mail. He said voter identification should not be viewed as a partisan issue and argued that the US should introduce a voter ID requirement for people casting ballots.
