North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met Korean War veterans and individuals honoured for wartime service in Pyongyang as part of commemorations marking the 73rd anniversary of the 1953 Korean War armistice. Images released by state media KCNA showed Kim greeting veterans, waving to crowds and posing for commemorative photographs. Kim praised surviving veterans as a source of strength and a spiritual pillar for the country, saying their legacy would inspire future generations. North Korea marked the anniversary with a ceremonial parade, commemorative events and visits to military cemeteries, while continuing to observe July 27 as the Day of Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
