'Fighting Russia is Tough': Zelensky Admits as Putin's Blitz Makes Ukraine Suffer Big Losses

Ukraine's counteroffensive has been nothing more than a "damp squib" so far. Russia's onslaught has made Ukraine struggle despite massive new aid from the West. Ukraine has managed to retake five villages in southern Donetsk after days of fighting, but at the cost of heavy losses in western-supplied armour and troops. According to a report by German newspaper Bild, by Monday evening local time, Ukrainian military analysts were reporting heavy fighting at two of the five villages supposedly liberated earlier in the day. The report also stated that Ukraine lost over 15% of the new arms and ammunition provided by the West in just five days. Ukraine remained silent for the first few days of its counteroffensive due to setbacks. Ukrainian President Zelensky admitted the offensive was underway on June 10 after his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin declared that Kyiv had had no success so far. Zelensky broke silence only after video proof of Ukraine's big losses was published by Russia.
