'Russian drone, nothing else!': Ukraine UN envoy unleashes blistering rebuttal in UAV crash row

Tensions flared at the United Nations after Ukraine’s ambassador forcefully rejected Russian claims surrounding the drone that crashed in Romania. Speaking during an emergency Security Council session requested by Bucharest, Ukrainian envoy Andriy Melnyk insisted the UAV was a Russian-made Geran-2 drone and dismissed any suggestion that Ukraine was responsible for the incident. Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Toiu told the Security Council that Romanian investigators had conclusively identified the drone as Russian in origin after analysing recovered fragments, navigation systems and other components. The crash injured civilians and damaged a residential building in the Romanian city of Galati, marking one of the most serious spillover incidents affecting a NATO member since the start of the war.
