Videos circulating online showed explosions lighting up the night sky in Venezuela’s capital Caracas and the coastal city of Higuerote in the early hours of Saturday. Residents reported hearing at least seven blasts and the sound of low-flying aircraft around 2 a.m. local time in Caracas. Shortly after the explosions, the Venezuelan government accused the United States of launching attacks on both civilian and military installations across multiple states. U.S. officials did not immediately respond to the allegations. The Pentagon referred requests for comment to the White House, which had not replied at the time of reporting. The developments come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Caracas.
