Watch | First images of 4 billion-years-old stunning Mars valley

The European Space Agency (ESA) released a video on Thursday (December 8) showcasing stunning imagery of the Mawrth Vallis valley on Mars. Mawrth Vallis is an outflow channel located on the borders of the red planet's northern lowlands and southern highlands. Estimated to be 600 km long and 2 km deep, the valley is estimated to be four billion years old, based on the planet's many impact craters. The data on which the animation was based was collected by a camera on-board ESA's Mars Express spacecraft, ESA said.
