Despite maintaining a low profile in Russia, famed NSA leaker Edward Snowden granted a part-serious, part-humorous interview to HBO's John Oliver that aired Sunday on HBO's "Last Week Tonight." Snowden has admitted that some media outlets, including the New York Times, failed to remove sensitive details from the classified documents he leaked. Snowden went on to say that "in journalism, we have to accept that some mistakes will be made." Snowden has been charged with espionage and other offences in the US for leaking secret documents from an NSA facility in Hawaii which he then leaked to the media. He has received asylum in Russia.
