Salman Rushdie receives knighthood

Author Salman Rushdie, who already has a long list of awards to his name, has now been bestowed with knighthood by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. Rushdie is one of the most prominent novelists of the late 20th century and is known for his unique mix of history with magical realism. He gained fame not only for the quality of his writing but also for his controversial novel The Satanic Verses.
