U.S. envoy Jared Kushner said talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow were “very constructive and substantive,” focused on what Russia, Ukraine and the wider world could gain from a durable peace. He and Steve Witkoff want to revive direct trilateral talks among the U.S., Russia and Ukraine—possibly with European partners—though no agreement or date has been announced. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine is stronger on the battlefield and therefore more confident in future negotiations, but stressed that air defence remains a critical weakness. He said Kyiv is relying on diplomacy as “Plan A,” while building mass defences against Russian jet drones as an urgent “Plan B.”
