Tens of thousands of users were said to be affected by Google search engine outage with tweets flooding the social media platform within hours. Over 40,000 incidents were registered linked to the world's largest search engine, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform, news agency Reuters reported.

Here are the top five updates on Google outage:
1. Google disruptions are usually rare. But thousands or users said they faced issues at around 9 pm New York time.
2. However, the service appeared to be mostly restored around 10 pm (Eastern Daylight Time).

3. Google's search section was said to have reflected a ‘500 error’. “The server encountered an error and could not complete your request," was the message that showed up.
4. Problems loading the Google website and performing searches were also observed in Taiwan and Japan, however, the services appeared to be intermittently available, reported Bloomberg.

{{/usCountry}}5. Google has not yet issued a statement on this. The most common causes of such failures are back-end web infrastructure, such as those experienced by Fastly and Amazon Web Services last year, according to the Bloomberg report.
