‘Howdy, Modi!’: PM Modi flaunts his regular jacket-kurta combo at ‘Howdy Modi’ in Houston

Taking a cue from the hit pastels trend, Modi donned plain yellow full-sleeved kurta paired with his signature taut churidar. He paired the summery kurta with a grey sleeveless jacket, now identified as Modi jacket. His dark grey jacket had criss-cross lines of a lighter shade of the same colour all over.

Sticking to his regular basic kurta ensemble, PM Narendra Modi walked into the NRG stadium in Houston, evoking cheers and thunderous applause from the Indian-American crowd in attendance on Sunday.

In what was his second mega event in United States of America after the 2014 Madison Square Garden,, PM Modi made an appearance in plain yellow full-sleeved kurta and a grey sleeveless jacket paired with his signature churidar.

Dressed subtly, PM Modi roused the enthusiasm among the Indian diaspora with his nearly 50 minute speech.

Modi, flanked by the US President Donald Trump, arrived to a rockstar’s welcome at a stadium which often hosts stars such as Beyonce and Bono of U2. Chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ gripped the stadium as the prime minister stepped onto the dias to address the crowd. The event had garnered public attention in the last week as the two world leaders were expected to share the stage.

Earlier, there were cultural performances with dhols and kirtans, Indian songs and dance enthralling the audience. In a symbolic gesture, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner handed the Indian PM ‘keys’ to the city.
