Reps. David Scott (D-GA) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY) appeared to “doze off” during Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, according to photos and video clips that circulated widely on social media.
The footage, which showed both lawmakers seated with their eyes closed at various points during the speech, quickly went viral and sparked a wave of online reactions.
One person wrote, "As a 50 year old white guy I watched the whole SOTU last night and I still can’t believe what I saw from the Democrats. Rep. David Scott (D-GA) straight-up pretending to sleep — head in hand, eyes shut, right in the middle of the longest, loudest, most energetic speech in history. Bro, come on."
Another commented, “Lol.. Another Democrat sleeping on the job.. SOTU.”
A third person wrote, "To be an elected official and you’re on TV sleeping at the SOTU like kid in high school, speaks volumes for what you think of those who elected you."

Al Green escorted from Chamber
Veteran Texas congressman Al Green was escorted out of the address after holding up a sign that read, “Black people aren’t apes!”
The message appeared to reference a video the president had reposted on Truth Social depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. The White House later removed the video, and Donald Trump said it had been shared by a staff member.
Green stood as Trump entered the chamber, raising the protest sign above his head. Steve Scalise appeared to swipe at it as he walked by.
Several Republican lawmakers, including Reps. Pat Fallon of Texas and John McGuire of Virginia, then moved to shield the poster from television cameras before Green was escorted out.
