No witness testimony will be presented on Friday, August 14, in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a mother from Duxbury who is charged with the murder of her three young children in 2023.
Clancy, 36, faces allegations of murdering 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan in January of that year. Prosecutors claim that Clancy used exercise bands to strangle them in the basement of their residence while her husband, Patrick Clancy, was away running errands.
Clancy's lawyer, Kevin Reddington, has maintained that she was overmedicated and did not possess criminal responsibility as a result of her mental illness, which encompassed postpartum depression and psychosis. She became paralyzed after jumping from a second-story window on the night the children were killed.

On the morning of Thursday, August 13, Judge William Sullivan welcomed the jury and presented the agenda for the day. He announced that court would adjourn early on Thursday and would not reconvene on Friday, August 14.

He explained that the alteration in the schedule was related to the "progress of the case."
Sullivan advised jurors to take the opportunity to "relax the best you can" prior to their return to court on Monday, August 17, at 9 a.m.

On Thursday, Trooper Kyle Pavao of the Massachusetts State Police appeared as a witness to provide testimony regarding a Surface Pro laptop that was confiscated from Clancy's residence in Duxbury in 2023. Pavao testified that on August 23, 2022, the laptop had accessed a webpage concerning methods of suicide.
Moving further, jurors listened to Trooper Timothy Chiappini, who had retrieved and examined data from Lindsay Clancy's iPhone. Notes from her device were presented to the courtroom.
Trooper Joshua McKelligan, the lead investigator in the Clancy homicide case, recounted his experience of entering the Duxbury residence following the murders on January 24, 2023. After McKelligan's testimony, Sullivan dismissed the jury for the weekend.
Throughout the trial so far, jurors have listened to testimonies from Patrick Clancy, a CVS general manager, a hostess from Three V restaurant, the family's nanny, friends, teachers, and numerous police officers, first responders, toxicologists, medical examiners, nurses, and doctors. Additionally, the courtroom was presented with the 911 call made by Patrick Clancy in January 2023, which he placed upon discovering his children.

Jurors also had the opportunity to view the family's previous residence located at 47 Summer St. in Duxbury, along with the store and restaurant that Patrick Clancy frequented on the night the children lost their lives.
Last week, Clancy addressed the judge, saying that she consented to stipulate certain facts in evidence and that it was unnecessary for some witnesses to provide testimony.
The jury is consists of 18 members, which includes 12 women and six men, among whom six are likely to act as alternates when deliberations commence. They were positioned ahead of a day filled with rulings from the judge on Friday, July 24.
