A lawyer’s viral video has sparked debate around women supporting Lindsay Clancy, with Alex Thomason saying he plans to use some women’s TikTok posts in custody cases.
A video of a lawyer has gone viral after he claimed multiple male clients told him they're worried their "baby mommas" might be inspired by Lindsay Clancy and harm their own children. The lawyer, identified as Alex Thomason, said he plans to use these women's TikTok posts supporting Clancy against them in custody cases.
“We're going to go and swing for the fences and we're going to try to strip this woman from having visitation rights... and we're going to use her TikTok posts,” Thomason said in the video.
According to his Instagram bio, Thomason describes himself as a “20+ Lawyer, Fire Commissioner, Helicopter Pilot- 'papa' to five kids. Levelling up body, business, being, and balance.”

How are people reacting online?
The video has triggered a wave of reactions on social media.
One person wrote on X, “People are not 'supporting Lindsay Clancy.' They are supporting awareness of postpartum struggles, so that future children will be saved because their moms go the help they needed.”
One comment read, "Good. No woman who has birthed a child should ever support child murder. Take them away."
Another wrote, “I'm good with it. These childish women blaming everyone else but Lindsay because 'she cried out for help and everyone failed her' are going to find out how invasive forced help really is. I don't think they are going to enjoy too much.”

Why is the Clancy trial so divisive?
According to The New York Times, Lindsay Clancy’s trial has drawn widespread attention in the United States, Clancy is accused of killing her three children, who were 5, 3 and 8 months old. The case has also sparked a debate about maternal mental health. Some people believe it shows that the US does not do enough to help new mothers, while others are angry that the killings are being discussed as anything other than murder.
Jonathan Hatami, a Los Angeles County child abuse prosecutor, told The New York Times that he was concerned people seemed more focused on Clancy than her children. “We can't be killing children and then say, 'Oh, I'm happy now that mental health is being discussed,'” he said.
Michelle Oberman, a legal scholar who has studied cases involving mothers who kill, told the outlet, “We can't really look away. It is just stunning and epic, in the magnitude of loss and the unthinkability of the crime.”
What does the prosecution say?
The district attorney's office, led by Timothy Cruz, has described Clancy's actions as "selfish" and "calculated," according to The New York Times. Prosecutors have challenged the idea that her postpartum mental health struggles explain the killings.
Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham said in her opening statement, "In contrast to pictures you'll see of the doting mother, the dedicated nurse, you'll also see a side of Lindsay Clancy that's different. Somebody extremely controlling, meticulous, and manipulative."
Clancy's defense has argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she killed her children. According to her lawyer, she heard voices that told her, “This is your last chance. Kill the children so you can kill yourself,” as per the Associated Press.
