Power outages are affecting customers across Shelby County, Tennessee, as severe weather moves through the Memphis area. According to PowerOutage.us, over 118,000 people were without power in the county as of 6 p.m. CDT on Saturday. All of the reported outages were among customers of Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW). See the map here.
A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect Saturday evening for southern Fayette County and eastern Shelby County in Tennessee, with strong winds threatening parts of the Memphis area.
At 5:45 p.m. CDT, the National Weather Service said a severe thunderstorm was located near Eads, about 12 miles northeast of Collierville, and was moving east at 35 mph. The warning was in effect until 6:15 p.m. CDT.

The warning included Arlington, Somerville, Eads, Macon, Oakland, Piperton, Moscow, Williston, La Grange, Lenow, Fisherville, Elba, Canadaville, Hays Crossing, Hickory Withe, Pattersonville, Forty Five and the Ghost River State Natural Area.

Shelby County had the largest number of reported outages in Tennessee, with 118,086 customers without power as of 6 p.m. CDT.

Tipton County had the second-highest number of outages, with more than 2,300 customers without electricity. Those outages were reported among customers of Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corp.
