Potential Areas of Concerns
Though the overall report was positive, there were some areas of concern for the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company. Analysts are highlighting the overall expense growth and losses in certain divisions of Meta.
Meta's expense was up by 40% in Q4. With more expenditure announced in its AI and core business, the expense is expected to grow further through 2026. But investment in AI technologies is a trend common to most Big Tech companies, as Microsoft, Amazon and Google have also made major investments in AI.
The other area of concern is Meta's Reality Labs division, which brought in $955 million: $4 million lower than projections of $959. The company's operating loss is at $6 billion, also higher than projected.
