UPDATE: A five-alarm fire broke out Thursday at Crossfield Products Corporation on Valley Road in Roselle Park, prompting road closures in the area.

As of 9 p.m. EDT, the blaze remained active, with emergency crews still on the scene, according to News 12 New Jersey.
Crossfield Products, a flooring company that manufactures resin for floors, has been in Roselle Park for over 50 years, Mayor Joseph Signorello said.
When the fire began, thick black smoke billowed from the building. Several explosions were reported, likely caused by propane tanks. No one was inside the building when the fire started. A few nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
“There were a lot of explosions internally,” Signorello said. “They do make resins, oil-based paints. Nobody got hurt (inside the building). We evacuated the homes across the street.”
Police are urging residents to avoid the area near Westfield Avenue and Valley Road.
“Residents are asked to please avoid the area and residents living in the west end of town are asked to keep windows and doors closed as air quality may be diminished due to heavy smoke,” Roselle Park police said in a Facebook post on Thursday evening.
