A shooting was reported near Union Station in Washington DC on Friday in which a teenager was shot. On February 6, 2026, at around 4:15 pm, First District officers responded to a report of sounds of gunshots near the intersection of North Capitol Street and Massachusetts Avenue, as per a Fox5DC reporter.
DC Police issued a statement, saying “Shooting investigation in the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, NE. The scene is secure. The incident did not occur at Union Station.”
Officers reportedly found a juvenile male on arrival who was conscious and breathing, but had suffered a gunshot wound. The incident took place in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue NE.
The victim was moved to a nearby hospital for treatment. “There is no lookout at this time,” the reporter added, sharing a video from the scene.

The shooter ran off, and I saw at least one person detained after struggling and trying to get away from police.”
Several people reacted to the news of the shooting. “How often do incidents like this happen here without national attention?,” one person wrote. Another added, “not good. i hope that no people die.”
Yet another individual continued, “Sounds like a tense situation, but it’s good to hear the scene is secure. Let's hope for quick resolution and safety for everyone involved.”
One person shared an apparent text message about an ‘active shooter’ and wrote “Former client texts that shots fired, may be an active shooter a block from Union Station, Washington D.C.”.
