The FBI raided the Maryland residence of former US National Security Adviser John Bolton in a national security probe concerning his handling of secret material. According to the New York Post, the raids took place on Friday morning at Bolton's home in Bethesda, which is situated outside of Washington.
In a strange post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel seemed to confirm the raid by saying, “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”

According to reports, the inquiry concerns confidential information, which was initially started during the Donald Trump's previous administration but was put on hold under his successor Joe Biden.
From 2018 to 2019, John Bolton served as Trump's national security adviser. He had previously been under fire for his 2020 memoir, The Room Where It Happened. Despite legal attempts by the Trump administration to prevent its publication, the book sparked charges that it included vital national security secrets.
After that, the Justice Department launched an investigation to determine whether Bolton's publication of secret material violated non-disclosure agreements.

Patel, who was named FBI director earlier this year, has vowed to uncover corruption and what he calls federal government cover-ups.
Bolton has refrained from making any remarks regarding the raid. He has been vocal against Trump foreign and national security record since departing his administration.

Bolton has also slammed Washington's approach to relations with India, labeling it “confused” and raising concerns about the severe tariffs placed on New Delhi while Beijing is exempt. “Leaving India hanging out to dry as the only country to which punitive action has been taken obviously leads a lot of people to conclude that the United States has given up on India,” Bolton state, warning that the ties between the US and India is presently in “a very bad place” and that New Delhi runs the possibility of being pushed closer to Beijing and Moscow. “I do worry that India is being driven closer to Russia and China.”
