Democrat lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly broke up with fiancé Riley Roberts. The reports came soon after the 36-year-old spoke about freezing her eggs. It also came amid her slamming ‘Woke 1’ in a blow to some sections of the Democrat Party.
All these together have fueled speculations of AOC eyeing a 2028 Democrat Presidential nomination.
“AOC is now the odds favorite to be the 2028 Democratic nominee,” Kalshi reported.
Meanwhile, Polymarket added “AOC overtakes Marco Rubio in the 2028 presidential odds for the first time this year, moving into second place. 13% chance AOC wins the White House.”

Amid the odds appearing to favor AOC, many felt that her recent decisions and remarks were made keeping the 2028 presidential election campaign in mind.

1. She filmed herself injecting fertility hormones and announced she’s freezing her eggs.
2. She casually declared “Woke 1 was crazy.” You should view this as a clean, public break from the brand that made her famous. She’s signaling growth and maturity by distancing herself from Wokeness. And she’s doing it without fully abandoning her tribe.
3. She allegedly split from her fiancé.
4. She’s a career woman in her mid-30s. She’s modeling the timelines, trade-offs, and biological realities that define the millions of women in her generation.
This alone is a winning combination on the Left and resonates with most women," one page claimed.
Another added "I've been telling people for several years that AOC best represents the base of what claims to be the Democrat Party. I've every reason to believe she's going to win the "Democrat" Party nomination for President in 2028."

Yet another said “Very interesting juxtaposition this week: AOC freezes her eggs amidst rumors of 2028 and a broken relationship. Karoline Leavitt steps back from one of the most desired jobs in Washington to focus on being a mother and raising her two babies.”
Notably, AOC said she hasn't ruled out running for the Senate or President in 2028, but indicated, she's now focused on running for Congress ahead of the midterms. However, there's nothing to indicate that her recent decisions were made with 2028 in mind.
Meanwhile, many have wondered what ‘Woke 1’ is even as AOC distanced herself from the same.
What is 'Woke 1'? AOC's remark leaves some Democrats hurt
AOC used the term ‘Woke 1’ when speaking to Jonathan Karl of ABC News on This Week.
She backed away from some of her previous stances, like defunding the police, during her interview. “There was a huge opening of the Overton Window” to try and “entertain any and every policy that was going to get us to a better place,” AOC said.
Invoking New York City council member Chi Ossé's X post, AOC laughingly remarked “Woke 1 was crazy.” She also pointed to other progressives walking back remarks deemed radical by more moderate Democrats and conservatives, like the ones made by Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong.
The term ‘woke’ has been around as Black slang for a long time, but was recently co-opted by Republicans and moderate Democrats who used it pejoratively to describe policies they felt was out of touch, the New York Times reported.
Spencer Goidel, a political science professor at Auburn University told the publication that Woke 1.0 referred to the age of the #MeToo movement, and backlash against sexual assault and discrimination, as well as the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd, which saw widespread protests against police violence and racial injustice.
