What's happening at Juliet Lane, Fort Worth? Shooting, active shooter reports spark panic

Fort Worth burglary call escalated into active shooter; one officer injured. Suspect barricaded on Juliet Ave; residents urged to stay indoors.

Update (5:12pm ET): The remains are at large while more information on the injured police official has now emerged.

KERA News reports that the injured official was part of the Fort Worth Police's Civilian Response Unit. Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia confirmed to the media in a briefing on the incident that the official is in a stable condition now.

"He was talking, he was moving, and by the grace of God, hopefully, with prayers, he'll be OK," Garcia said.

Providing more details on the incident, Garcia said that it started with a burglary call around 11:45pm local time. When the officials with the Civilian Response Team arrived at the scene, the suspect started firing at them from across the street. However, the officials were not armed - as is customary for civilian officials in Fort Worth - they could not shoot back the suspect.

Original story: Reports of a heavy police presence are coming from North Juliet Lane in Fort Worth, Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

Scanner reports suggested that there could be an active shooter situation, though police have not yet released any details of the incident.

ABC News affiliate WFAA 8 reports, citing the Fort Worth Police Department, that what started as a burglary call escalated into an active shooter situation with one police officer injured.

The suspect has reportedly barricaded themselves inside a residence on Juliet Avenue.

An alert has been issued by the Fort Worth Police Department in Dallas asking residents to stay indoors due to the possible danger surrounding the armed suspect.

North Juliet Lane is a residential street located in Fort Worth, in the northern part of the city within Tarrant County.
