Former US President Donald Trump is the latest to join the criticism brigade after the shocking exit of two-time defending champion USWNT from ongoing 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. On Sunday, United States lost 4-5 to Sweden on penalties in the round of 16 and got knocked out of the tournament, their earliest ouster in history as the team had reached at least the semi-finals in all previous editions.

Trump took to "Truth Social" and flayed the US women's football team for their disappointing performance and subsequent ouster from the World Cup. In a scathing post, Trump blamed the woke mindset within the team for the terrible result.
“The “shocking and totally unexpected” loss by the U.S. Women's Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden. Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE," posted Trump.

Notably, several players in the team are known for their wokeness and political activism. Trump also took a dig at US women's football player Megan Rapinoe whose penalty miss costed them the match against Sweden.

{{/usCountry}}"Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA,” wrote Trump.
In the ongoing World Cup, some players didn't sing the US National Anthem before their group stage match against Vietnam.
Notably, some of the players of the current women's team were part of the 2019 World Cup-winning team that declined Trump's invitation to the White House. It is believed that the US women's football team has been under Trump's radar ever since then.
Meanwhile, Trump is currently campaigning to get the Republican nomination for the 2024 US Presidential election. Recently, Trump was indicted for his alleged role in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 US presidential election.
