MMA leader gets jail term for passing remarks against Musharraf

Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Hashmi has got five years jail term for making abusive remarks against President Pervez Musharraf.

An anti-terrorism court in the Pakistan city of Lahore has sentenced a MMA district leader to five years in prison for making abusive remarks against President Pervez Musharraf and Premier Shaukat Aziz.

Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Hashmi, the district chief of the MMA in Kasur, had made the remarks at a public meeting against the Women Protection Bill, according to the prosecution.

The court passed the sentence against him on Thursday.
