Rani Mukerji, Aditya Chopra blessed with daughter, name her Adira

Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Aditya Chopra were blessed with a baby daughter on Wednesday. The couple has named her Adira, a combination of bother their names. In a statement, Rani said the baby was “God’s greatest gift”.

Bollywood star Rani Mukerji and filmmaker Aditya Chopra were blessed with a daughter on Wednesday morning. The actor delivered the baby at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Rani Mukerji said her daughter Adira was ‘God’s greatest gift’ in a statement soon after the baby’s birth. Rani and husband Aditya Chopra were blessed with a girl on Wednesday morning.

The proud parents have named their daughter Adira – a combination of Aditya and Rani. In a statement released to media, Rani said, “I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives.”

Social media was abuzz with the news as Bollywood celebs wrote congratulatory messages to the couple.

Their close friend and filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted: “Am an uncle to a beautiful baby girl today!!!!! @udaychopra !!! Rani and Adi had a baby girl!!”.

Actor and producer Uday Chopra, Aditya’s younger brother, also announced that “it’s a girl” on Twitter.

Rishi Kapoor also congratulated Rani and Adi on this happy occasion. He tweeted, “Rani and Aditya Chopra become proud parents to a baby girl named Adira. Congratulations!” Actor Riteish Deshmukh also wrote, “Congratulations proud parents n chachu @udaychopra”.

Rani’s mother-in-law Pam Chopra said in an interview last month, “Adi took me very quietly aside in another room as we having dinner with other people and told me. Adi said, ‘Guess what? Rani’s pregnant.’ I almost screamed out! You can’t explain that wonderful feeling; and the fact is that you live with that feeling always… Even now when I think about my grandchild, I feel my heart skip a beat and that fluttery feeling in my stomach. My heart is so full of joy!”
