The traffic department has decided to close some roads and put up parking restrictions to ensure smooth commute during the Maratha kranti morcha on Wednesday.
The morcha, which will start from Jijamata Udayan at 11am and terminate at Azad Maidan near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 5pm, will see a large number of participants from across the state.
The vehicles coming for the morcha would be moving from the Suman Nagar junction towards the Bhaktipark Marg and reach CST through the Eastern Freeway, then exit through the Port Trust Marg. The traffic department has made arrangements for parking at the vacant space near the Port Trust.
Vehicles from coming from the Navi Mumbai will also reach Bombay Port Trust through the Eastern Freeway from Panjalpol junction in Chembur.
Participants coming from Thane will take the Eastern Express Highway through Suman Nagar Junction.
Vehicles coming from the Western Express Highway have to take the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road towards Amar Mahal Junction and then reach Suman Nagar junction to go to the Port Trust.
Vehicles from the Western Link Road and SV Road will go through Kalanagar junction towards Dharavi-Sion railway station and then take a left turn towards the highway to reach the Port Trust.
Certain roads would be closed. The road from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road at Dadar Fire Brigade junction will be closed for all vehicles on the south bound road (except emergency vehicles). The north and south bound roads from JJ flyover to Azad Maidan will be closed for all vehicles. Hajarimal Somani Marg from OSC junction to CST will be closed for all north and south bound traffic. The roads from Metro Junction to BMC head office and from Bhatiya Baig to the CST junction will also be closed.
The traffic department suggested alternative routes for commuters — from King Circle towards PDmello Road, from Dadar TT towards Chaar Raasta, Naigaon crossroad to RAK Marg, from Madame Cama Road towards Hutatma Chowk to Kala Ghoda, from NM Joshi Marg to Lower Parel for Worli Naka, and Marine Drive road to Worli from Haji Ali. These routes will remain open.
The traffic police has advised the commuters to plan their commute according to the restrictions
