Weeklong programme on information security begins

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, organised a weeklong series of faculty development programmes on 'Computational Research Methodologies in Information Securities', which was inaugurated here on Monday.

The keynote address was delivered by chief guest Amolak Singh Kalsi, technical director and district informatics officer at National Informatics Centre, Jalandha. Kalsi pointed out various innovative ideas implemented at the industry and government level for the concern of information security.

Jaspreet Singh Kapoor, senior associate consultant at Infosys Development Centre, Chandigarh, was the guest of honour. Kapoor worked in various research projects and exposed the need for secure handling of sensitive data. Harpreet Khattar from Secugenius Security Solutions, Chandigarh, and Nipun Jaswal from HCF Infosec Pvt Ltd., Noida, also spoke on the event.

The programme was organised with the objective of sharing methods to secure information. As many as 18 speakers would deliver lectures and provide practical exposure to participants. Over 70 participants, including research scholars and faculty of various institutes participated on Day-one of the event.

On the forthcoming days, experts from the industry will deliver talks on topics such as Server Security, Wireless Network Sniffing, Cloud Computing, Google Adsense etc. Director MS Saini applauded the effort of the college and emphasised the need to make the most of such diligent learning opportunities.

Chairman of the programme and head of department of information technology, Akshay Girdhar, gave a brief introduction of the programme. Programme coordinator KS Mann introduced the guests while the co-coordinator delivered the vote of thanks.
