Brazilian film director Oscar Maron Filho, who was in Goa to attend the IFFI 2011 died on Sunday, after suffering a heart attack.
Filho, 56, collapsed to death while addressing an Open Forum on the sidelines of the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
Filho, after he collapsed, was immediately rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital where he breathed his last. He was the director of biggest production house, Atlantica Cinematographica in Brazil. Filho was at IFFI with his film, ‘Mario Filho: The Creator of Crowds’ as a part of the Soccer Package.
Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamath called Filho death the “most unfortunate”.
Filho was joking and laughing around with the audience other speakers and other at the Open Forum before he suffered the fatal heart attack.
A film-maker and journalist from Rio De Janerio, Filho’s other notable films include Bye Bye Romario, Pele and O Papa da Bola.
In condolence, all festivities at the IFFI 2011 venue were suspended for a day. The red carpet of the movie Laptop was also cancelled.
At 8pm on Sunday, movie screenings across all festivals were also stopped.
