Campus calling: Here’s why Delhi colleges are the best places to promote a film

With several celebrities visiting various college campuses in Delhi, here’s a look at why varsities in Delhi are the favourite places for film promotion.

There’s nothing that spells S-T-A-R more than the sight of thousands of super-excited faces, the thunderous sound of cheers, the arms waving in the air. That’s the sight that greets celebrities whenever they come to a college campus.

In recent times, actors Akshay Kumar and Govinda visited Amity University and SRCC, respectively, to promote their films; singer Kanika Kapoor came to Lady Shri Ram College for Women to launch a cosmetic product; and director Anurag Kashyap made an appearance at Hindu College to launch an app. While private universities like Amity ask for in-film branding, state universities often pay or demand nothing.

Sukhwinder Singh, who performed at Indraprastha University, says that college students have a different charm as an audience. “At other shows, we have to be a little mellow, but at college performances, we can rock it out,” he says. “So we may charge half, or nothing — the crowd’s energy is worth it.”
