Even though Delhi does not have an underwater park yet, you can still get a glimpse of marine life through an ongoing photography exhibition in the city. Titled, Follow the Tide: India’s Waters, Coastal People and The Need For Conservation, the exhibit is being organised by Greenpeace. The five-day long show will showcase both the beauty and destruction of Indian seas through the works of four photographers.

The main highlight of the exhibition are the snapshots of underwater marine life, documented by Emmy award winner, filmmaker and diver Gavin Newman. “These pictures taken underwater in the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone by Newman give a glimpse of the range of marine biodiversity that this country possesses,” says Areeba Khan, a campaigner with the organisation.

Photographers Peeyush Sekhsaria, Ronny Sen and Sudhanshu Malhotra will also be showcasing their works, which bring various facets of India’s oceans to light through pictures of fishing communities along the coast, their social and economic realities and instances of illegal fishing in Indian seas. "I’ve tried to document the lives of the people who are dependent on the oceans and the coasts for their livelihoods and how threats like overfishing are affecting them. This exhibition brings the story of the sea to Delhi where decisions about managing our coasts are made," says Malhotra.
