With more than 22 groups from the crème de la crème of the campus theatre scene, Atelier’s 3rd Theatre Youth Week — presented by Atelier Expressions and HT City — promises to be a celebration of theatrical excellence.

As Jashnebachpan, the children’s theatre fest winds up, kicking off next week is another theatre extravaganza. With more than 22 groups from the crème de la crème of the campus theatre scene, Atelier’s 3rd Theatre Youth Week — presented by Atelier Expressions and HT City — promises to be a
celebration of theatrical excellence.

This past week, over 42 groups from 26 colleges auditioned for a chance to perform at the festival. Of those, 22 will be shortlisted for 12 stage plays and 10 street plays, that’ll be performed at venues across the city. The festival officially starts on November 13 with The Circus, a performance by the Actor Factor Theatre Company. From November 18 to 21, three plays will be staged at the Sri Ram Centre by college groups everyday, and at 7.30 pm there will be a performance by a professional theatre group.

Forty groups, 20 from places other than Delhi, auditioned to perform the professional play of which four — Asmita, Atelier, Actor Factor Company and Mumbai-based director Manav Kaul — were selected by a panel. Each day will also see a key celebrity speaker, a theatre expert, who will address the questions of the audience, such as Lushin Dubey, Gul Panag, Saurabh Shukla, Vinay Pathak, Piyush Mishra and Bubbles Sabharwal.
