50-year-old man sent to jail for raping minor in Bhopal

A 50-year-old man was arrested and sent to jail for raping a 17-year-old girl in Hanumanganj area of Bhopal on Thursday, police said.

A 50-year-old man was arrested and sent to jail for raping a 17-year-old girl in Hanumanganj area of Bhopal on Thursday, police said.

The victim, a resident of Narsighpur district, had run away from her home a month ago after being scolded by her parents.

She reached Bhopal railway station on Thursday where she befriended the accused, Suresh Sen, they said. Sen allegedly promised to take care of the girl and purchased her clothes. He then took the girl to a hotel and raped her.

The victim lodged a complaint with the police with the help of hotel employees, following which police arrested Sen and produced him in court which sent him to jail.

The police said the minor would be taken to her home and handed over to her family.

Meanwhile, another minor was gangraped by three youths in Rewa on Thursday. The police have detained two people in the case. The 17-year-old victim, a resident of village Karahiya, was allegedly kidnapped by two youths when she was going to the market.

The trio raped the girl and fled away.

Civil Line police said that two of the accused have been detained, while hunt was on for the third. One accused has been identified as Mukesh Tiwari, they said.
