Shia community leaders want deployment of rapid action force (RAF) personnel for at least two months and establishment of a police outpost at Aman Colony so that the community members, who were attacked last week, could go back to their homes.
A mob had attacked the community members, set afire their houses and damaged their belongings on last Thursday. The attack had left scores of the residents injured.
Talking to the HT, the community leaders including Zaigham Abbas, Gulam Haidar, Akhtar Ali, Miskeen Ali and Nasir Raza said they expected a proactive approach from the administration to help them get back to their homes. They also expected adequate compensation.
Haidar said the administration continued to remain indifferent towards the victims. Some injured were treated on the first day, however, later nobody turned up at Irani Dera near Bhopal railway station, where the victims took shelter after the attack. Haidar said nobody from the administration inquired if they had food etc.
The leaders said the attack was not a sectarian clash. The violence on Thursday against members of Shia community was a result of a property dispute between some persons. It was a pre-planned attack.
"We believe in a peaceful coexistence and earn money through honest means but unfortunately we attacked after rumours spread about us. Nobody tried to verify the facts," said the community leaders.
