Mohsin Khan, one of the organisers, told HT that they (the youth group planning the event) did not want to disturb peace and harmony on Raahgiri Day - a weekly community event organised by Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Also, they did not have the requisite police permission for the event and therefore decided to postpone it.

"We would get more volunteers and then take up the issue with the community and organise the event in future with community support and requisite legal permissions," Khan said.

He said the group does not want to promote kissing in public, but if anybody does so, it is their personal choice. Also, they are strictly against any sort of moral policing, they demand equal rights and opportunity for all humans beings (straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender), oppose patriarchal form of society and support equal status for women.
