The exam scam heat could be felt in the Madhya Pradesh assembly on Thursday with Congress MLA Sunderlal Tiwari and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rameshwar Sharma sparring over the issue, leading to the adjournment of the House for 15 minutes.
While the BJP MLAs were miffed at Tiwari's attempt to "highjack" the proceedings of the House, Congress MLAs said Sharma had crossed his limits by threatening senior member Sunderlal Tiwari to "see him".
After initial furore, as the situation was getting normal in the House after it reassembled, senior Congress MLA Ramniwas Rawat asked the speaker to give a ruling on Sharma's conduct and said the saffron party MLAs didn't believe in democracy.
"Prajatantra ke hatyare hain yein" (They are destroyers of democracy), he shouted.
The problem had begun when Tiwari, during the Question Hour, started demanding a statement from chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam in the light of new "revelations" put forth by the top Congress leaders.
During the Question Hour, first-time BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma dared Tiwari to come out for a "real show down" that led to a brief commotion in the House as members of both sides started shouting, leading to a virtual chaos.
