Within hours after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that fees of all talented students of the state would be the borne by the government, the state government came out with a rider on Sunday.
Addressing a programme organised under the incentive scheme for meritorious students in Bhopal, the chief minister declared that the state government would sponsor the fees of those students who would be selected not just in national institutes but also foreign universities.
Extending the largesse to IIT, IIM, UPSC and other competitive exams aspirants, the CM had announced that the state would provide free coaching all the meritorious candidates from the state.
However, the state government soon came out with a clause and said the fees would be borne by the state government only after students get admission to national institutes within Madhya Pradesh and only too those students whose parents were not income tax payee.
It was also specified later that only selected foreign institutes would be considered by the state government for sponsoring the fees.
The chief minister distributed bank drafts worth Rs25,000 each to 10,061 students of the state at the programme held at Motilal Nehru Stadium in Lal Parade Ground for purchase laptops. Four IIT toppers from the state were also felicitated on this occasion.

{{/usCountry}}“Students of our state will no more go to Kota for coaching. We will provide all the facilities in our state itself. The obstacles coming in the way of education of any of the student will be cleared by me,” the CM was quoted as saying.
He said hostel facilities would also be provided to students. “If the number of hostels are insufficient, instructions have been given to hire rooms for students. Girls of Classes 9 to 12 would be also provided with hostel facility,” he added.
