MP: Professor accuses husband of administering her slow poison

A 55-year-old woman professor at government college in Chhatarpur has lodged a complaint with Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission alleging that her husband had been administering her poison in food. Later, when she got suspicious, he allegedly tried to poison her through other means.

The complainant alleges that her husband had an extra-marital affair. Hence, he wanted to eliminate her. "Not just I, my two sons were also given poison and by the time we realised what was happening, it had affected us a lot. Our medical reports showed high levels of arsenic.

The skin of one of my sons was damaged badly. Now we are living separately but despite complaint to the police, proper action was not taken, she claims.

The woman says the police did register a case but not under the section meant for poisoning. "No action was taken because of his clout. When samples were collected, they were either not sent or not tested in the lab."

"I gave in writing to the police but my husband tried to give the impression that I was suffering from psychological issues," she said. "I want immediate action," she said. The complainant alleges that her husband still keeps threatening her and tries to give the impression that she has lost mental balance.
