Last year, the flagship 'Beti Bachao' campaign of the state was launched on October 5 (daughters' day). The week would commence on this day and conclude on International Girl Child Day (October 11). The state government has issued directives to all the district collectors to organise different awareness and appreciation activities.

The government has decided to honour those families that have only one girl child. Girls who have achieved special success in education, sports and cultural fields will also be felicitated at government functions. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would attend a state level function, ministers in-charge would be present at the district-level functions while other distinguished citizens and peoples' representatives would attend the block-level programmes.

Three media persons each will be awarded on October 5 at the district level for publishing news and articles for creating positive effects towards protection of girl children.

During the week, the replication of the successful projects under 'Beti Bachao' campaign like Project Khushi of Khandwa district, Sambal Cards of Balaghat district and Samman Patra (citation) to families with only daughters in Narsinghpur district would also commence.
