Skewed sex ratio: MP to offer women officers higher positions

In a bid to make people aware about the skewed male-female ratio, the Madhya Pradesh Government as part of its new transfer policy has decided to post women officers on higher administrative posts in those districts of the state where sex-ratio is on the decline.

"In order to arrest the declining sex ratio, the Cabinet has decided to post women officers on higher administrative posts to raise awareness among the masses in those districts where the male-female gap is widening," the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Dr Narottam Mishra told reporters after the cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet also decided to create 259 new posts in different departments of the state and also gave its nod to set up new transport offices in five districts.

Referring to the centrally-sponsored 'Sakshar Bharat Yojna' (Literate India Scheme), he said that the Cabinet has also given its approval to this scheme which is aimed at imparting functional literacy to the women above 15 years of age in 10 districts of the state initially.
